Women's Cross Country Heads to Boston for Harrier Classic
Sept. 23, 2005 Memphis, Tenn. - After traveling for Knoxville, Tenn. last weekend for a dual meet versus the University of Tennessee, the Memphis women's cross country squad is set for its fourth meet of the season, as the team heads to Boston, Mass., for the Harrier Classic. For four U of M runners, junior Becca McMahon (Londonderry, N.H.) and freshmen Carolyn Corbett (Concord, N.H.), Emily Malinowski (Slingerlands, N.Y.) and Meghan Shinkwin (Nashua, N.H.) the Classic will mark a homecoming of sorts, as the journey to Boston will provide the northeasterners with the opportunity to run in front of friends and family members who will be able to make the rather short trip to the meet. The Harrier Classic will be hosted by USA Track and Field - New England at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. and will feature women's and men's collegiate and club teams, as well as individuals. The meet is set to begin at 11:00 a.m. EST Saturday, September 24, with the women's race. The 5K race will continue a step up in distance for the Lady Tigers as Coach Jonas Holdeman progresses his squad toward the Conference USA and NCAA Championship distance of six kilometers. Results and a recap for the Harrier Classic will be posted at gotigersgo.com following the completion of the meet.
