MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Coming off its highest-ever finish at the Conference USA Cross Country Championships two weekends ago, the Memphis women's cross country squad is set to head to Gainesville, Fla., this weekend for the NCAA South Regional Cross Country Championships.

The U of M enters the meet after finishing sixth at the C-USA meet to record the best women's team result in school history.

Junior Daniele Riendeau took top individual honors for the squad and picking up a school record in the process. Her sixth-place finish was the highest-ever finish for a Memphis women's runner at C-USA Championships. The Ottawa, Ontario native, who also earned second-team All Conference honors, should have a chance to break into the top-20 at the regional meet.

Freshman Emily Malinowski, who claimed a school mark of her own last weekend by recording the second-highest finish for a Memphis woman at the C-USA Championships, just missed All-Conference honors with her 16th-place showing, and is expected to post another strong result at the Regional meet.

The U of M squad for the Regional meet will be rounded out by senior Nora Nemere, juniors Mary Claire Dake and Sarah Janecek and freshmen Carolyn Corbett and Meghan Shinkwin.

The South Regional Championships, hosted by the University of Florida, will feature 32 teams from Tennessee, Florida, Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi. The women's 6K race is set to begin at 11 a.m. (EST) Saturday morning.

Complete meet results will be posted at the Florida website, www.gatorzone.com, with results and a recap posted at gotigersgo.com.
