Gabriel Alvarado enters his third season with the Memphis volleyball program. Alvarado served as a team manager in 2007, but was elevated to video technician prior to the 2008 season. As the video tech, Alvarado will handle various managerial duties as well as taking on the responsibilities of handling the in-game match stats analysis software. He will also be instrumental in scout team preparations. A 2007 graduate of Collierville High School, Alvarado served as the student manager for the Dragons volleyball team from 2005-07. Alvarado is a native of San Juan, Puerto Rico, and played club volleyball for Borinquen Coqui. He was a two-time member of the Puerto Rican Junior Olympics squad that competed in the national tournament in Phoenix, Ariz., in 2001 and 2003. As the primary setter for the team, Alvarado guided his U-12 squad to a Bronze medal finish in 2001. He helped his U-14 team take the Gold medal as both a setter and defensive specialist in 2003. Alvarado is the son of Nancy and Charlie Alvarado. He has five siblings-four brothers and one sister. |
