OGDEN, Utah - Tiara Gilkey posted a game-high 14 kills and Fehi Tuivai added a career-high 10 kills to lead Memphis to a 3-0 sweep of Weber State Wednesday evening in non-conference volleyball action. The Tigers improve to 5-0 with five consecutive sweeps for the first time in the program's history.

Memphis came out strong in the first game, racing out to a 15-10 lead. An unassisted kill by Melissa Nance gave the Tigers their largest lead at 28-22, before they closed the match out, 30-24. Senior setter Heather Watts had 14 of her game-high 39 assists in the first game.

Weber took a 7-2 lead to start Game two, but Memphis fought back to knot the game at 11, behind a pair of service aces by Watts. Neither team was able to mount a sizeable lead, but it was the Tigers who would take the last lead at 23-22, before winning the see-saw contest 30-26.

Memphis looked to put the match away in the third frame and, with the help of a 6-0 run that put them ahead 22-16, did just that to claim a 30-25 win of the final game and 3-0 sweep of the match.

The Tigers will now travel to Provo, Utah to compete in the BYU/Mizuno Classic hosted by BYU. Memphis will face Oklahoma in its next contest on Fri., Sept. 10 at 1 p.m.
