Katlin Inglish led Memphis with a double-double performance of 14 kills and 14 digs and the Tigers jumped out to an early lead, but UCF came back to score wins in the next three set to round out a 3-1 decision over the Tigers in C-USA action on Friday night. The loss was the second straight for Memphis, who falls to 12-8, 3-3 in league play.
Inglish was impressive, hitting .400 on 30 swings. She was joined in double-figures by Rebekah Strickland and Lauren Thompson, who downed 13 and 11 kills each. Inglish posted a match-best 14 digs. Memphis got 12 digs each from Christine Bach and Lauren Trouy. Carolyn Baker was solid at the net, making six blocks, including three solo rejections.
Erin Campbell led a crew of four Knights to finish the night with 10 or more, logging a match-best 19 terminations. She had 10 digs was joined by Janine Williams (11 kills, 11 digs) as the two UCF players to record double-double performance. Stephanie Serna hit .367 with 14 kills, while Williams and Jenny Heppert each had 11. UCF setter Lauren Rosenthal set a match-high 50 assist for the Knights, who improve to 13-6 on the year and keep their hold on the top spot in the C-USA standings.
Memphis will look to return to the win column on Sun., Oct. 12, when it rounds out weekend action at Southern Miss. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.
