Tiger Volleyball Falls To Marquette, 3-0, In C-USA Tournament

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The University of Memphis volleyball team faced Marquette in the first round of the C-USA Tournament today. Marquette swept the Tigers in three consecutive games to put an end to the lady Tigers season.

The Tigers were defeated by Marquette by a score of 3-0 in the regular season, and were began the day's match at a considerable disadvantage. Rosie Glenn, the tigers senior outside hitter and on court leader, injured herself in practice on Monday and was only able to play the first point in the match. Glenn reached the 1000 career kill mark this season while also passing the 1000 career dig mark.

Marquette came out strong, and stunned the Tigers with a 15-1 opening game victory. After starting slowly, the Tigers charged back in the second game of the match, only to have the Golden Eagles hold them off and win 16-14. Marquette then finished things off with a 15-8 game to complete the sweep and end Memphis' season. The Tigers finish the season with an 11-22 record and lose two seniors off of this year's squad, Glenn and defensive specialist Amy Vaughn.
