Altrese Hawkins Named to COBRA Volleyball's All-National Second Team

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Memphis outside hitter/middle blocker Altrese Hawkins received more recognition for her standout sophomore season, as she was tabbed a Second Team All-National performer by COBRA Volleyball for the second consecutive season, the online publication announced. The Second Team selection is the sixth post-season honor for Hawkins, who finished the year ranked 40th nationally and fifth in Conference USA with a team-best 3.96 kills per set. She finished 66th in the country and fifth in C-USA with a team-leading 4.3 points per set. Hawkins, who was tabbed a 2010 C-USA All-Academic and First Team All-C-USA player in November, also led Memphis and ranked fourth in C-USA in kills (483) and total points (525.0). The Schaumburg, Ill., native rated 12th among C-USA hitters with a team-best .305 attack percentage. A 2009 COBRA Second Team All-National pick, Hawkins was selected to the publication's 2010 Preseason All-National team and was featured on the cover of COBRA Magazine in December. Hawkins also hauled in All-Southeast Region honors by COBRA. The 5-10, Hawkins' season earned her AVCA All-Midwest Region First Team honors in early December. She was tabbed an honorable mention All-America performer by the AVCA, making her just the fourth Tiger volleyball player to ever reach All-America status.
