MEMPHIS — The University of Memphis volleyball program has set four spring competition dates beginning with a road matchup against the Tulane Green Wave on March 12.

“The girls have been working hard in the weight room and in the gym,” University of Memphis head coach April Jauregui said. “We are fortunate to have a large number of players this spring and therefore we will use all four play dates.”

The Tigers will then return home to compete in a tournament at crosstown-foe Christian Brothers on March 26. Memphis will also host a tournament on April 2nd at the Elma Roane Fieldhouse, which features a series of games with Tulane and Mineral Area College.

“We are doing a home and away with Tulane,” Jauregui said. “It will also serve as a nice team bonding experience when we travel down to New Orleans. We essentially play two home tournaments with hosting our own and playing at CBU. I encourage all fans to come out and see us play.”

Memphis will wrap up its spring schedule with a trip to Murfreesboro to compete in a one-day tournament hosted by the Blue Raiders. The round-robin style event includes a strong field of MTSU, Georgia Tech, Auburn and UAB.

“This will be a great tournament to wrap up our spring training,” Jauregui said. “We will get to test ourselves against high-level competition, and I know the girls are looking forward to competing this spring!”

The Tigers finished last season with a .500 mark of 16-16 (7-13 C-USA) and were led by sophomore outside hitter/middle blocker Altrese Hawkins. She earned AVCA Honorable Mention All-America Honors and led the squad with 483 kills, 3.96 kills per set, 525 points and 4.30 points per set.
