Petronijevic needs 195 digs to break the all-time school mark

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - With the Blue/Gray game quickly approaching for the Memphis volleyball team, each player is looking to improve. The Tigers return eight letterwinners and four starters from last season's 15-17 squad. Highlighting today's feature are liberos Aleksandra Petronijevic, Lindsey Purvis and defensive specialist Kendall Seering.

One of two seniors, Petronijevic will start the campaign with 1,618 career digs which places her third on the all-time list. The Serbian needs 195 digs to break the all-time program record set by Christen Clayton in 2006. Additionally, Petronijevic has played in every set since her sophomore season.

Since transferring from Middle Tennessee State, Purvis has progressively improved in all facets of her game. The junior ranked among the conference statistical leaders in service aces with 21, good for 12th in the American Athletic Conference. Furthermore, the Germantown, Tenn., native posted double-digit digs nine times during her sophomore campaign.

Seering joins the Tigers after a stellar three-year prep campaign at Tipton-Rosemark Academy in Millington, Tenn.. Seering finished her high school career with 819 assists, 272 digs, 136 service aces and 119 kills, while leading her team in assists her junior and senior years.

The Tigers are hosting the Blue/Gray game on Friday Aug. 22 at Elma Roane Fieldhouse at 5:00 p.m. before tipping off the regular season against Southeast Missouri State on August 29 in St. Louis at the Marcia E. Hamilton Classic. To learn more about Memphis Volleyball, visit gotigersgo.com and follow @MemphisVolley on Twitter and Instagram.
