MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of Memphis volleyball team's weekend matches against Houston and Rice have been postponed due to the forecasted threat of Hurricane Rita along the Gulf Coast of Texas. Memphis was scheduled to open its Conference USA slate at Houston on Friday, followed by the conference home opener against preseason favorite Rice at 2 p.m., Sunday afternoon. Make-up dates for both matches remain to be determined.

The postponement of this weekend's action will extend the Tigers' road swing to 10 matches. Memphis has not played a home match since Sept. 3 when they defeated UALR in the title match of the O'Charley's Tiger Invitational. The road trip resumes on Sept. 27 when Memphis travels to Arkansas State for its first midweek battle. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
