MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Marija Jovanovic, a 6-foot-2 freshman right side hitter from Belgrade, Serbia, has been cleared to play for the University of Memphis volleyball team, head coach April Jauregui announced Wednesday. The NCAA Clearinghouse told Jauregui and the Tiger volleyball coaching staff of its decision Tuesday.

Jovanovic, who signed a national letter of intent with Memphis this past summer, will play her first game on Saturday when the Tigers host C-USA rival Houston, at the Elma Roane Fieldhouse. Match time is set for 7 p.m.

"This has been a long process and we are glad that we can now put it behind us," said Jauregui. "Marija and her family have been great during the process. We are glad that it is resolved and that she will have the opportunity to compete beginning Saturday."
