Former Tiger Setter Laura Côté Signs Professional Volleyball Contract in Romania

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Former University of Memphis standout setter Laura Côté has signed a professional volleyball contract to play with C.S.IOR Bucuresti of the Romanian A1 National Division it was announced.
"It is awesome to see a player fulfill her dreams," said Memphis head coach April Jauregui. "It was a thrill to coach her for the past four years and it has been a joy seeing her grow as a player and person. I must thank my assistant coach Marko Majstorovic for his role in helping Laura earn a professional contract. Marko is a valuable asset to me, the players and this program."
One of the most decorated players to wear the Blue and Gray, Côté wrapped up her career at Memphis as the program's all-time assists leader with 5,968. Côté earned Honorable Mention All-American honors as well as being named All-Midwest Region First Team, Academic All-District IV First Team, First Team All-C-USA and C-USA All-Tournament en route to guiding the Tigers to 83 wins in four years.
"Laura's name will forever be embedded in the Memphis record books and now she embarks on a new adventure," stated Jauregui. "I wish Laura nothing but the best in this next step in her career. I know she will do great."
Cote will get her professional career underway on Sat., Oct. 10 when IOR Bucaresti takes on CSM 2007 Foscani in the 2009 season-opener.
