Memphis, Tenn.- - The U of M volleyball team (8-13, 1-6) ended an eight-game losing streak with a 3-0 win over Jacksonville State, Tuesday.

The win comes in Memphis' first home match of the week, with conference home matches featuring American Division leading Cincinnati and Louisville on the slate for this weekend.

The Tigers and the Gamecocks battled to 11-11 in the first game, before the Tiger serving game downed Jacksonville State, 15-11. Tiger serving was too much for Jacksonville State throughout the evening, posting 11 service aces, two shy of a season-high. Sarah Wengler led the onslaught with six aces, while sophomore Ginger Garrett finished with three aces of her own.

Memphis downed 15 kills in the second game, hitting .278 in a 15-7 victory before coming out and getting their blocking game going, downing five total blocks in the third game and 13 for the evening. Combine that with a.406 hitting percentage and the Tigers posted a 15-5 game three win.

Senior outside hitter Rosie Glenn finished with 13 kills while sophomore Sarah Wengler added 12 in the Tigers' eighth win of the season. Sophomore Amie Hamilton posted 10 kills, her 11th game in double-digit defense this season.

The Tigers host Louisville, Friday, at 7 p.m. The Cardinals are in a battle for the top seed in the American Division, one game behind the Tigers' Sunday opponent, Cincinnati. Memphis and Cincinnati will duel Sunday at 2 p.m.
