Coming off two home matches, and a five set victory on Saturday night, the Tigers face three road matches this week. Memphis first travels to non-conference foe Tennessee State University on Tuesday before taking on East Carolina University on Friday and Marshall University on Sunday.

East Carolina has dropped 17 straight games after earning their only win of the season over Bethune Cookman. The Pirates have blocked well this season as they rank fourth in the league with an average of 2.11 blocks per set. Marshall had their five-match winning streak snapped, falling at Houston last weekend. The Thundering Herd lead C-USA in opponent hitting percentage at .168 and rank second with an average of 1.39 aces per set. Laura Der and Dorothy both rank third in C-USA with an averages of 4.23 kills per set and 4.55 digs per set, respectively.

STORYLINES

    • The Tigers had five players reach double figures in kills in their victory over Southern Miss on Saturday. According to available records, that is first time the Tigers have accomplished that feat. Memphis last had four players reach double figures last October against Houston.
    • Memphis’ matchup with Marshall pits two of the top serving teams in Conference USA. The teams rank second and third in the league with Marshall holding a slight 1.39 to 1.35 aces per set advantage.
    • The Tigers hit .259 as a team on Saturday against Southern Miss, marking the fifth time they have hit over .250 this season. Memphis is 5-0 in those matches.
    • Memphis has a combined 27-11 record against their opponents this week. The Tigers have winning streaks of three-games and nine-games against Marshall and East Carolina, respectively.
    • Libero Aleksandra Petronijevic (Belgrade, Serbia) continued her hot play of late, having recorded at least 20 digs in three of her last four matches. She had 22 digs against Southern Miss and ranks fourth in Conference USA with an average of 4.33 digs per set.
    • Viktorija Teivane (Daugavpils, Latvia) registered the first double-double of her career when she recorded the final kill in the Tigers’ 3-2 win over Southern Miss. She ended the match with a career-high 10 kills and 14 digs.
    • Katie Meyer (Dalton, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) also set a career-best with a 11 kills against Southern Miss. Meyer only had three errors in the match for a blistering .471 attack percentage. The junior hit a team-best .409 for the week.
    • Marija Jovanovic (Belgrade, Serbia) led the Tigers with 25 kills last week. She also had an attack percentage of .315, which ranked second on the team.
