MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Memphis volleyball (9-10, 1-4 American) welcomes the Rutgers Scarlet Knights (4-15, 0-5 American) to the Elma Roane Fieldhosue Friday evening at 7 p.m. The game is the first meeting between the two programs. The game is also the fourth home game for the Tigers in the last seven days. The Tigers have a 4-6 record at home, but have dropped their last three games at the Fieldhouse. The Scarlet Knights have yet to win on the road, with an 0-7 record.
The Tigers offense is spearheaded by Catlin Lilly, who has averaged 3.32 kills per set in her freshman campaign. Senior Viktorija Teivane and junior Lauren Hawkins have averaged 2.87 and 2.86 kills respectively. McKenzie Hayes has played strong as of late, upping her average to 2.13.
Alex Lassa leads the Rutgers offense with 3.56 kills per set and is the only Scarlett Knight to average more than 2 kills per set. Micaela Anderson and Sofi Cucuz round out the top three hitters for Rutgers, putting down 1.92 and 1.83 kills respectively.
The Tigers will complete their homestand Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. when UConn comes to the Elma Roane Fieldhouse. The game will be the annual Dig Pink Event for Memphis volleyball, with the first 100 fans receiving a mini pink volleyball. Donations for the Side-out Foundation and their Dig Pink Campaign will be accepted at both games this weekend.
