Memphis, Tenn.- - The University of Memphis (8-14, 1-8) women's volleyball team fell to Cincinnati (18-3, 8-1), 3-0, Sunday.

The Tigers came out and faced a red-hot Cincinnati offense, which hit .387 and .361 in the first two games in 15-1 and 15-7 victories. Memphis struggled to get it going offensively, hitting .000 in the first game and a game-high .167 in the second.

But the Tigers again regrouped and turned on the blocking game in the third game.

Cincinnati was up 10-1 when Memphis' front row caught fire, stopping five attempts and slowing the Bearcat offense down to a .167 clip. Freshman Amanda Boatright (Austin, Texas/Leander) made the most of her playing time, recording five total blocks, including one block solo. April Harriman (Los Angeles, Calif./Brethren Christian) added three block assists.

But Cincinnati soon adjusted, led by freshman middle blocker Bonita Wise who downed 14 kills in the 15-9 victory.

Tiger sophomore Amie Hamilton (Kalama, Wash./Kalama) again hit double-digit digs with 11 in the loss, while sophomore Ginger Garrett (Normal, Ill/Normal West) led the offense with 11 kills.

Memphis travels to the University of Mississippi to face their third SEC team this season, Tuesday, at 7 p.m. The Tigers then host Saint Louis, Friday, at 7 p.m. before travelling to UNC-Charlotte, Sunday, for a 2 p.m. match.
