Memphis, Tenn.-- - Tiger volleyball player April Harriman has been named to the Verizon Academic All-America District IV Volleyball team by Co-SIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America).

Harriman, a double major in political science and communications, finished her Tiger volleyball career with 494 kills this season, the fifth-highest single season total in school history. The Los Angeles native finished her career with with 1017 career kills after surpassing the 1,000-kill career mark in her final home match in the Elma Roane Fieldhouse.

A graduate of Brethren Christian High School, Harriman carries a 3.97 GPA and has already completed the coursework for her communications degree. She will finish her political science degree by completing a Legislative Internship with the Tennessee State Government in Nashville, this spring.

Harriman led the Tigers with 4.08 kills per game in her senior campaign. She was also second on the defense with 379 digs (3.13/game).

Memphis (13-20, 3-13) finished its season with a 3-1 loss to Tulane in the first round of the Conference USA tournament.

Harriman will now move onto the ballot for the Verizon Academic All-American team. This is the first time in three years that Memphis has had a first-team representative on the All-American ballot.
