MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The accolades continue to roll in for setter Heather Watts as the senior was tabbed an AVCA All-Midwest Region First Team selection Wednesday. Watts, who earned ESPN The Magazine Second Team All-America honors last week, was selected as an AVCA All-Midwest Region honorable mention performer last year.

The Sandy, Utah native is just the second Memphis spiker ever, and the first under Carrie Yerty, to earn Regional recognition. The last Tiger to do so was Katherine Lehman, who earned NCAA South Region honors back in 1990.

The Tigers captain led Memphis to its second consecutive 25-plus win season this year and broke the Memphis and Conference USA record for assists in a single season with 1,830. She has now set C-USA class records for assists in each of the last three seasons and has posted three of Memphis's top five single season assist totals.

"We are so proud of Heather," said Yerty. "She is absolutely deserving of every award she receives. She is a winner on the court, in the classroom and in life and our program will greatly miss her athletic ability and leadership."

Watts, who garnered Conference USA Setter of the Year honors, joins fellow C-USA players Aida Antanaviciute of Saint Louis, Julie DuPont of Cincinnati, and four Louisville players, Jennifer Hoffman, Bing Sun, Lena Ustymenko and Ana Yartseva.

The program's most decorated setter ever, Watts has now taken home a total of 13 awards in her final season.
