New Orleans, La.-- - The University of Memphis (6-9, 0-3) volleyball team remains winless in Conference USA play following a tight 3-1 loss at Tulane, Friday.
After getting into New Orleans at 2 a.m. after a 3-2 win at South Alabama, Thursday, the Tigers looked tired in game one, falling 15-7.
But Memphis rebounded on the strength of some solid defense behind the blocking game, holding off the Green Wave, 15-11.
Game three seemed to sway toward Tulane again, but the Tigers battled back from 5-10 down to tie the game at 13-13. Tulane took advantage of two Tiger attack errors to close game three with a 15-13 victory.
Game four was all Tulane, with the Green Wave spreading the offense and wearing down the Tigers in a 15-3 win.
Senior April Harriman led the Tigers with 18 kills, while junior Ginger Garrett downed 11 kills in the loss. Freshman Brittany Barnett led the Tiger defense with 13 digs and six block assists.
Memphis' road trip continues at Southern Miss, Sunday, at 2 p.m.
