HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Despite outhitting Marshall (23-12, 9-3 C-USA), 6-3, the University of Memphis softball team (14-25, 3-9 C-USA) allowed two home runs to fall 6-1 Saturday afternoon.

Marshall took a 3-0 lead in the second inning after Shaelynn Braxton drove in a run off a single to left center before Alysia Hively added two more runs for the Herd with a two-run shot to left field.

Marshall extended its lead in the third with Kaelynn Greene drawing a walk and stealing second to put herself in scoring position. A sac bunt moved Greene to third before she scored on a sac fly to right field for a 4-0 advantage.

Memphis got on the board in the fourth to cut its deficit to 4-1. Cierra Mangum reached base on a fielder's choice and advanced to third after a single to left center by Ellen Roberts. With one out, a groundout to second by Wheeler Hill drove in Mangum and advanced pinch runner Hannah Harrell to second. However, a groundout to third base prevented the Tigers from adding any more runs in the inning.

Marshall stretched its lead in the bottom of the frame with a two-run home run by Braxton to give the Herd a 6-1 lead.

In the final three innings of play, the Tigers were limited to just one hit as they dropped their eighth-straight game. Andi Williamson improved to 22-11 on the season, finishing with seven strikeouts and allowing six hits and three walks. Roberts (7-16) was handed the loss for Memphis. Roberts led the Tigers at the plate, going 2-for-3.

Memphis hits the road Tuesday for a doubleheader against Belmont in Nashville. The first pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
