Men's Soccer Claims First Game at SMU Invitational

DALLAS, TX- Memphis battled to earn their third victory of the season Friday night, defeating Stony Brook in their first game in Dallas at the SMU Invitational, 1-0.
The UofM held a 6-2 advantage in shots in the first half, but couldn't find the back of the net.
Tigers and Seawolves were scoreless going into the half. However, they continued to gain momentum.
Memphis came out strong in the second half creating multiple chances and finally found a quality chance late in the game.
In the 89th minute, Hayden Cochran scored his second goal of the season, from a shot inside the six, to seal the deal against SBU. Cochran netted his first goal in the game against UAB.
With a valiant effort by the Tigers, they continued to attack the Seawolves again outshooting them 8-2 in the second half.
The Tiger defense produced another strong performance in the victory, allowing only four shots.
Memphis goalkeeper Cody Uzcategui made one save and picked up his second shutout of the season.
With the win, Memphis improved its record to 3-1. Stony Brook is now 1-3-1.
