Memphis ranked in both AP and Amway Coaches' Poll
The Tigers are currently ranked No. 17 in the Amway Coaches' Poll, the third straight week Memphis has been ranked in the top 25 by the college coaches. Now, after Saturday's 37-24 win over Ole Miss, Memphis is also ranked No. 18 in the Associated Press top 25 poll.
The inclusion in this week's AP poll is the first in-season appearance for Memphis since 2004, the only other appearance in Tiger history in that poll.
Memphis is in a short week this week preparing to return to American Athletic Conference play. The Tigers will play at Tulsa on Friday in a nationally-televised game on ESPN at 7 p.m. (CT). Memphis, currently 6-0, is 2-0 in American Athletic Conference play with wins over Cincinnati and USF. The team's current win streak, which dates back to last season, is now at 13 games and ranks third behind Ohio State's 19-game winning streak and TCU's 14-game winning streak.
The Tigers' Friday night game under the lights at H.A. Chapman Stadium in Tulsa will be the program's first appearance in Tulsa since the 2009 season, a game won 33-30 in overtime by the Golden Hurricane.
