Feb 04, 2016 | Men's Soccer
The University of Memphis men's soccer team received national letters of intent from seven student-athletes who inked on National Signing Day, Memphis head coach Richard Mulrooney announced Thursday.
"We are very excited about the recruits we have gotten in. This is my third year as head coach and some of these players we started recruiting from the first day we got here," Mulrooney said. "We have a backbone in place but these guys will just add to it and strengthen it even more. We feel we are on the right track to win conference championships and make the NCAA Tournament. Not only are these boys good soccer players but they are good individuals off the field as well."

Adam Bruce – Defender/Midfielder – Brentwood, Tenn.
Adam Bruce is returning to his home state to play soccer for the University of Memphis after four seasons with St. Louis Scott Gallagher Soccer Club in Missouri. A left back and left winger, Bruce moved away from his home in Brentwood, Tenn. at the age of 15 to better develop as a soccer player and compete in the US Soccer Development Academy. He played four seasons with St. Louis Scott Gallagher, where he was a teammate of current Memphis Tiger Josh Burnett, before signing with the Memphis Tigers. Prior to his move he played seven seasons with Tennessee Soccer Club, helping the team to three state championships. As a homeschooled player, he led his team to a 17-0-1 record and a Mid-America Division Championship in 2012. Bruce is the son of Pete and Kristine Bruce.
"Adam plays for St. Louis Scott Gallagher which is a strong academy that we already have a few players from on our roster," said Mulrooney. "He is a player that we have followed for a long time. He is a feisty and fiery competitor that will compete for every ball until the last minute. He will add depth to the left side and brings a fieriness along with technical ability to our team that we didn't consistently have a lot of last year."
Max Lichtenstein – Goalkeeper – Boca Raton, Fla.
Max Lichtenstein, a goalkeeper from Boca Raton, Florida, is set to join the Tigers for the 2016 season. As a sophomore and junior, Max served as the youngest captain on his high school team. He continued to impress his junior season by producing a 12 save shutout performance against the number one team in the county. The two-year letter winner led his team to a championship season, as well as earning All-County and All-Region honors. His senior year, Max moved away from his family to Chicago to pursue a more elite level of play with the academy team, the Chicago Fire. He led the Fire to six shutouts in eight games played. Lichtenstein is the son of Amy and Michael Lichtenstein.
"Max is a complete goalkeeper. He came to our ID Camp and has good size and a good frame. We feel like he is solid at everything that is asked of him. We think he can come in and compete right away with our current goalkeepers. At the end of the day he strengthens our goalkeeping core and we are excited to get him here," Mulrooney said.

Chris Mikus – Midfielder – Cumming, Ga.
Chris Mikus, a Cumming, Georgia native, was a varsity letterman at South Forsyth High School his freshman season before transitioning to USSF Development Academy to experience elite level playing time. The midfielder has many accolades including being ranked the number one player in the South Atlantic region by TopDrawer Soccer, Georgia United Soccer Association U16 leading scorer and a Development Academy Southeast All-American in 2014. He has also trained internationally in Chile and Portugal. Not only did Mikus excel on the soccer field, but also in the classroom being recognized as a National Merit Scholarship Program Commended Student. Mikus is the son of Craig Mikus and Tracey Walton.
"Chris plays for Georgia United which is another strong academy, and is a relationship that we have been working on for a while," said Mulrooney. "He is a great academic kid that whatever he does in life he will go far on or off the field. He is our first true two-way midfielder that we've had in a long time. He can get up the field and score goals as well as get back and get gritty on defense."

Jackson Morse – Midfielder – Plano, Texas
Jackson Morse plays as a midfielder for the Dallas Texans USSF Academy team where he has helped his team to the USSF National Playoffs. The Plano, Texas native, previously played for Solar Chelsea USSF where he was a teammate of current Memphis Tiger soccer player Julio Vargas. Last season his team went 13-7-7 where he served as captain and started in almost every game with two goals and eight assists. A solid student as well, he is a member of the National Honor Society and is on Student Council. Jackson is the son of Lisa Morse, who played women's soccer at SMU.
"Jackson is another player we have been recruiting for a while. He will bring a quiet confidence to our team. He is a very good soccer player who will add to our team IQ. His club teams in the past have played him at defensive midfielder because he can read the game well, while other coaches have played him at attacking mid because of his presence on the ball. Basically he is a player we can play in many roles," Mulrooney said.
Aaron Osborne – Defender – Savannah, Ga.
Aaron Osborne played as a midfielder and forward in high school before transitioning to a defender for his club team CESA, which is one of the premier non-academy teams in the country. Coached by his dad, he led his team to a 12-1-1 season in 2015 while producing 35 goals and 20 assists for Savannah Christian Prep School in Savannah, Georgia. Aaron has earned many honors including All-Greater Savannah First Team Boys Soccer in 2014, as well as All-Greater Savannah First Team, All-Greater Savannah Athletic Hall of Fame Boys Player of the Year, and Georgia Class-A Boys Player of the Year in 2015. The four-year letter winner also exceled on the basketball court as a point guard. Osborne is the son of Dan and Lori Osborne.
"Aaron lives in Savannah, Ga. but would make the trip to go play for his club team which shows a massive commitment on his end," said Mulrooney. "With the losses of Quincy Thomas and Austin Stone last year we have a need for center backs. Aaron brings in a desire to win. He will compete right off the bat as a freshman and there are minutes to be found for him. He has a great soccer IQ and strengthens us in many ways with his addition."
Remington Pimm – Forward/Midfielder – Land O' Lakes, Fla.
Remington Pimm plays forward and midfield for Sunlake High School in Land O' Lakes, Florida. Pimm has been honored with being Florida State Player of the year for the 2013-2014 season. In the one season he played for Sunlake, he was number one in the nation for goals scored (64). He also served as captain for two years on his academy team, IMG U16 Academy. He also played one season with Lutz Rangers and two with the Clearwater Chargers. He is following in the footsteps of his father who also played collegiate soccer at Nova Southeastern University. Pimm is the son of Donald Eric Pimm and Christine Cline.
"Remington has that "it" factor. He has that one-on-one ability to create for himself. He has great movement off the ball, which fits his play out wide. He is strong on set plays, taking efficient free kicks and corner kicks. At times last year on the field we lacked guys that had ideas and creativity in the run of play. Remington can do that for us," Mulrooney said.
Noah Thomas – Forward/Midfielder – Dacula, Ga.
Noah Thomas played soccer at Mill Creek High School in Dacula, Georgia before transferring to Lanier High School his senior year. He was a part of a championship team in 2013-2014 season with Mill Creek where he set a personal record of 17 goals in a season. Thomas continues to play for the Concorde Fire 98 Academy team where he is ranked a top-10 goal scorer in the nation. He made 30 starts in 34 games with 21 goals, four of which were scored against the Clearwater Chargers. Thomas is the son of Steven Thomas and Carla Bailey.
"Noah is just a ball of energy and relentless when he steps on the field," said Mulrooney. "He is a proven goal scorer and has a never say die attitude. He has good movement on and off the ball and likes to get in behind the defense. He has the strength to hold players off but is deceptively fast. Noah is a tireless worker that will go from the first minute to the 90th minute."
MID-YEAR ADDITION
Sean Gouveia – Forward – Belleville, Ill.
Sean Gouveia played forward and midfield for Belleville West High School in Illinois and St. Louis Scott Gallagher before enrolling this spring at the University of Memphis. He was a two-year letter winner, as well as team captain for one season. While playing for Belleville West, Gouveia earned many accolades including, First Team All-State, First Team All-Area, All Metro, and All Conference honors. He led his team with the most goals in a single season (27). Gouveia is the son of Chris and Caroline Gouveia.
"We are happy to have Sean here now. He chose to graduate early and join us, which is going to be beneficial for him. This will provide more competition and depth for our forwards. He is a proven goal scorer as he did it for St. Louis Scott Gallagher and for his high school team. He is the type of the player that can keep defenses on their heels by making runs behind or receiving the ball in front and running at them," said Mulrooney.
