Tigers to Take to Course in Three-Day FAMC Intercollegiate at The Grove

COLLEGE GROVE, Tenn. - The Memphis Tigers return to action after a week break as the squad travels to College Grove, Tennessee, to compete in the Franklin American Mortgage Intercollegiate at The Grove.

First Round Tee Times: Chase Harris (8 a.m.), Nick Giles (8:08 a.m.), Borja Martin (8:16 a.m.), Rodi Vlasveld (8:24 a.m.), Brad Bawden (8:32 a.m.), Individual - Colin Dubnik (10 a.m.). The Tigers are in their pairings on the day with American Athletic Conference foe Cincinnati, and will begin on the first hole.
HISTORY AT THE EVENT
This season is the fourth consecutive year that the event has been held, with the Tigers competing last year for the first time. Last season the Tigers placed ninth with rounds of 293, 294, and 300. Nick Giles is the only current player on the current roster to have played last season, as he opened play with back-to-back rounds of 73 (+1) over the first two rounds of the tournament.
ABOUT THE COURSE
Signature golf at its finest. The Grove's 18-hole Greg Norman Signature Design golf course is the pride of our beautiful community and is quickly becoming known as one of the best golf courses in both Williamson County and all of Middle Tennessee. Norman's signature design is both challenging and enjoyable for all golf skill levels. Grove residents call it the perfect home course—a complement to this already inspiring land that feels as if it has been a part of this area for generations.
LAST TIME OUT
Using scores of 301, 281, and 296, the Memphis Tigers took ninth at the 2017 Shoal Creek Intercollegiate hosted by UAB on September 25 and 26.
Individually, Brad Bawden and Rodi Vlasveld each tied for 16th in the field, finishing the tournament one stroke over par with a 217. Bawden put together rounds of 74 (+2), 70 (-2), and 73 (+1), while Vlasveld had rounds of 76 (+4), 70 (-2), and 71 (-1). Freshman Borja Martin tied for 23rd with scores of 76 (+4), 70 (-2), and 73 (+1).
NEXT TIME OUT
After the three-day event Memphis takes 19 days off before traveling to Kiawah Island, South Carolina, for the Tigers' final fall event of the season at the Kiawah Classic hosted by McNeese at Turtle Point Golf Club.
