Blue Defeats Gray In Saturday's Scrimmage

Tigers hosted youth clinic after the scrimmage
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The 2017 University of Memphis volleyball squad got its first "match-like" environment Saturday when the Tigers played its annual Blue-Gray scrimmage at the Elma Roane Fieldhouse. The Blue defeated the Gray 3-0.
After the scrimmage, the Tigers held a youth volleyball clinic.

Memphis now turns its attention to Friday's season opener versus Bradley at the Eastern Illinois Panther Invitational in Charleston, Ill. The Tigers also face Eastern Illinois and Green Bay in the two-day tournament.
Before heading to Charleston, Ill., the Tigers are hosting one more scrimmage Wednesday, Aug. 23 at 11 a.m. (CT) at the Elma Roane Fieldhouse.

Head coach April Jauregui comments on the scrimmage
"First of all, thanks to the great crowd that came out today. It was amazing, and we couldn't have asked for a better turnout. I believe our players, especially our newcomers, got that match-like 'feel' we were hoping to have.
"We got to see some players step up and start to separate themselves. We still have some tough decisions ahead in determining our lineup heading into next week's season opener. We have some options because we have a lot of good players. Today was a good start in putting all the pieces together going into match-week preparations."
