Tigers Set for Final Road Match of Regular Season at Missouri State
Oct 24, 2025 | Men's Soccer
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis men's soccer team is set for a Saturday night matchup at 7 p.m. at Missouri State. The road finale against the Bears will be broadcast on ESPN+.
The Tigers still control their destiny in terms of conference tournament implications in the match, sitting in the fifth seed currently with nine points. Missouri State, currently sitting at six points in seventh place, has a chance to make up ground in the conference as they are one of seven teams in the American with three conference matches remaining. Memphis and FIU, who both are in position to qualify for the conference tournament, only have two matches remaining in conference play.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Memphis (4-6-3, 3-3-0 American) most recently defeated Temple, 4-2 in a home match this past Saturday.
Miller Lashlee opened the scoring with a brace, putting Memphis at a two-goal advantage in the 22nd minute of the match. After Temple converted on two scoring attempts to tie the match, Saad Chaouki scored a penalty and put the match out of reach with a brace of his own in the final 15 minutes.
Lashlee has energized the Memphis attack in American play, as he currently leads the conference in goals during league play with five in just 259 minutes, averaging a goal nearly every 51 minutes of play. He stands tied with Chaouki for the team lead in goals after both had a brace in their most recent match. Chaouki currently is tied for the second-most goals in conference play and has the most game-winning goals in American matches this season.
A pair of Tigers have been instrumental in Memphis' buildup this season as Luciano Galizzi and Eben McIntyre have combined for seven assists in conference play and 11 overall. Both rank within the top three in the conference in overall assists and assists in conference play, with Galizzi tied for the lead in league goals. McIntyre also has two game-winning goals on the season for Memphis.
Goalkeeper Filip Sabatti has played to a 3-4-2 record in goal after moving back into a starting role. Sabatti had his fifth outing of the season with at least four saves in Memphis' last contest against Florida Atlantic and has faced at least 10 shots in all but two starts this year.
Senior goalkeeper Filip Sabatti holds a 4-4-2 record on the season, recording 32 saves. He has at least four saves in five matches this season and is looking for his first clean sheet since a home match against Mercer on Aug. 28.
SCOUTING THE BEARS
Missouri State (5-5-2, 2-3-0 American) enters the match with wins in its last two contests against South Florida and Drake, with the South Florida match being a key 3-1 victory as the Bears look to be one of the top six teams in the conference, qualifying for the American Tournament in their first year as members.
Fumiya Shiraishi has been crucial to Missouri State's success this season. After the former FIU Panther scored four goals in the opening match of the season, he has put four more in the back of the net and assisted on two goals. Shiraishi's eight goals currently rank 19th nationally and his 19 points sit at 22nd in the country.
A defensive trio has helped Missouri State to a positive goal differential this season as Victor Wachowicz, Harry Jolley and Alex Matthews have all started every match this season and logged at least 1,000 minutes. Matthews is a returning United Soccer Coaches third team All-American and Jolley is the lone returning goal scorer from the 2024 matchup between the two programs when the Bears were ranked 15th in the nation.
In net, Missouri State's only two American players, Will Lowry and Jonathan Kliewer, have split duties this season, with Lowry earning two-thirds of the starts. On the season, Lowry holds a 0.83 goals-against-average with 20 saves en route to a current record of 4-3-2 as the goalkeeper of record.
THE SERIES WITH MISSOURI STATE
