Tigers Bounce Back with Dominating Win

CARBONDALE, Ill. – The University of Memphis Volleyball team bounced back Saturday morning with a dominating 3-0 win to close out the Saluki Bash.
The Memphis Tigers (3-3) swept the Jackson State Tigers (3-3) in a commanding fashion. Hannah Jones led the team with a season-high 13 kills, while Tiffany Snook and Clara Bednarek both recorded nine kills each. Bednarek also had the team's highest hitting percentage with .692.
Jordan Heatherly had another well-rounded game with 35 assists, eight digs and two service aces.
Jackson State established an early lead in the first set, going up 5-1, before Memphis responded with a 10-0 run to take an 11-5 advantage. The Tigers never looked back, winning the set 25-14.
The second set opened with back-and-forth action until Memphis pulled ahead, 18-13, with four consecutive kills by Bednarek. The Tigers kept their foot on the gas with six of the last seven points to win the set 25-18.
In the third set, the score remained close from the beginning with neither side having more than a three-point advantage until a 5-0 run from Memphis helped set up Jones for the final kill, giving the Tigers a 25-23 victory.
UP NEXT
The Tigers will be back in action next weekend as they host the Bluff City Showdown, September 12-14. Memphis will take on Arkansas Pine-Bluff, Lamar, and Indiana State.
