BATON ROUGE, La. – Memphis thrower Gabriel Koletsi picked up his third win of the season in the men's javelin throw on Saturday at the LSU Alumni Gold Invitational.
The junior from Greece launched a 68.73-meter throw, winning out over a competitive field by over two-and-a-half meters. He has also picked up first place in the javelin at the Don McGarey Invitational and Bulldog Alumni Relays in March.
Elsewhere on LSU's track, the men's 4x400-meter relay team of Jacari Simpson, Prior Ochonogor, Kouto Anyika and Courtland Noble broke the program record with a time of 3:06.76. Kenny Guy and Alex Bobak finished second and third, respectively, in the men's 3000 meters, and Jalyssa Smith placed third on the women's side. Maddie Roberts and Riley Simmons also each placed in the top three of the women's hammer throw.
In addition to the six top-three finishes, seven Tigers hit personal-bests in Baton Rouge, listed below. Full results can be found at the link above. Memphis will be competing at home next weekend, hosting their annual Memphis Tiger Invitational on May 2 and 3.
